The training course covers all aspects of design of control systems for electric drives.

General approaches of control systems' theory - open-loop and closed-loop systems, optimization criteria etc. Physical and mathematical approaches used for description of dynamic systems are explained. The concept of multiloop cascade control system structure is examined in detail.

The course comprises both DC and AC electric drives. The chapters start with brief explanation of motors’ equations, analysis of their static performances and dynamic behavior. Power electronic converters are also dealt with. Then it is shown how to construct speed and position control system, how to calculate regulators and assess system’s dynamics.
